Hi, I am Shaylon Bourque.

I have been falling in love with the art of photography since 2019. I am 25 years old and I am from Buffalo Lake Metis Settlement. Since I was little, my family and I moved around the Provence of Alberta and eventually settled in Edmonton at the tender age of 7. Through those years of packing and moving my family stored all our home videos and photo's in an old trunk. The trunk filled with a lifetime of memories remains to this day. As I parse through old photo's of my life I can't help but think there's two very delicate variables holding these moments intact. My own memory + film. My late 90's childhood is littered with Polaroid's and Kodak film. One's I cherish forever.

My joy of photography comes from a very nostalgic place. May it be best day of your life, a mundane moment, a loved one passing or a birthday. All of that can be documented with a simple flash. Photography captures the raw emotion in real time. It can bring you back into that exact room where you laughed, cried or just simply enjoying life. With each year passing I find a new reason to fall involve with it.
